Ballyronan Lough Neagh
RACE 1 Wednesday Summer Series
16th June 2010
Perfect conditions, a constant NE 10 Knot breeze with OOD Michael Browne on the Starting Boat.
Rusalka setting the standards for correct dress as she flew at the masthead the elite Irish Cruising Club Burgee not often seen in these waters.
The triangle course into wind start gave Swag Bag helmed by visiting sailor Ian Young from Waringstown a cracking start. Swag opening up a 10 boat lead over the Beneteau 25.7 and Beneteau 211 Sea Pearl the latter sporting a brand new set of racing sails. The two Beneteau despite a match racing exchange over the duration of the race seemed unable to haul in Swag Bag. Eventually when completing her penalty turn for hitting a race mark Swag was caught up by Sea pearl in the final leg.
Swag Bag won the race on corrected time.

RACE TWO
OOD Michael Brown in the falling breeze shortened the course for second race of the evening .The mighty Beneteau boats all crewed by father and son teams had a storming downwind start and led the fleet the whole way round the first lap.
The places on the water changed several times with First 25.7 exchanging places with the Beneteau 211 and Robber 111E in some very close quarter moves.
Swag Bag this time helmed by Ballyronan Boat Clubs own David Brice and Ricky Butlers Rusalka battled hard and were in contention for the first half of the race before a superbly executed lee bow tack on the final round from First 25.7 pushed Swag Bag wide on the mark to fall off the pace out of contention.
Beneteau First 211 Sea Pearl won the race.
Rusalka sailed a superb race and took a very credible second place only 41 seconds behind First 211.
